Uruguayan writer-director Guillermo Amoedo makes his English-language debut with Chile-shot The Stranger, which is produced by Eli Roth but conveys its own unique flavor of dark and creepy (an early review compared it to “the best parts of Near Dark”).

The title character is a man whose sudden appearance in a small town is... not well-received, and things get gorier from there. The Stranger is due out in U.S. theaters and On Demand June 12.
