The short film Refuge is set year in the year 2020 when a cyberwar is brewing between the United States and Iran. Sonia, a young journalist and refugee from Iran, is in danger of being deported, when a new research project offers her an opportunity to stay, but at great personal cost.

Mohammad Gorjestani wrote and directed Refuge, which is a thought-provoking look at what can happen when corporate interests and politics collide to put individual people in coercive situations. And Nikohl Boosheri’s Sonia has to ask whether she’s willing to do something she’d never otherwise consider to achieve her goals.
