We've expressed our love of old Alien toys before because they metamorphosed R-rated claustrophobia, carnage, and fancy extraterrestrial walking into birthday presents. And the toys' box artwork was even better, as the advertisers had no problems juxtaposing xenomorphs alongside smiling children. Remember tots, facehuggers hate rubber darts!
All of these playthings — which were made by ad execs who seemed to think Alien was as family-friendly as Flash Gordon — go for a pretty penny on the secondary market. My favorite bits are the alien's Fonz attack pose and the copy on the inside of the board game — "an exciting new game of elimination and escape!"
