The Evil Dead reboot gives its leading role to the exact opposite of Bruce Campbell. Jeremy Renner explains the differences between The Avengers and Mission: Impossible. Bane's Dark Knight Rises dialogue wasn't remixed after all. Plus there's a possible Carrie remake!

Star Trek 2
Two British television stars have reportedly been cast in the upcoming sequel. First up is Noel Clarke, best known as the Doctor's former companion Mickey Smith on Doctor Who, who has been cast as "a family man with a wife and young daughter." Clarke has confirmed his casting on his Twitter, though he didn't comment specifically on what character he is playing. [Variety]
Next up is Sherlock star and owner of the most awesomely, ludicrously British name in history, Benedict Cumberbatch. He's reportedly been cast in an undisclosed part, and that it's reportedly a "lead role." The only rumored role that remains not cast is the main villain, a role originally linked to Benicio del Toro. And while I would absolutely love to see Cumberbatch as the big villain of the Star Trek movie, there's no real reason to think that's the part he's in line for. [Deadline]
The Dark Knight Rises
It looks like the reports of Bane's audio mix being changed for the prologue being shown before Mission Impossible IV may have been somewhat exaggerated. New York Times reporter Dave Itzkoff has tweeted, "Warner Bros. says 'no truth' to reports of new Dark Knight Rises prologue trailers going out with fixed Bane audio." What's more, IMAX executives have reportedly denied any knowledge of this rumor, and Collider has now retracted its initial story. [IGN]
Hawkeye actor Jeremy Renner compares and contrasts the experience of making this movie to his work on the Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol:
It was a lot of fun. Mission was a massive movie then The Avengers came round, and that's a huge movie. There are all these superheroes in it, passing a baton between superheroes There's a lot of fighting! But that should be a big, fun movie. It's a whole other world. We're dealing with other worlds, and other things like Thor and all. Mission has got that more, I'm not going to say it's the most grounded movie, but it's got a sense of realism to it. We're climbing that building. We're doing these things. The circumstances might be fantasy but you know we're doing real shit. And when it comes to The Avengers that's a bit more fantasy.
Production is reportedly headed to Los Angeles next week for what are almost certainly just some routine reshoots, most likely in the Manhattan Beach Studios. A casting call has reportedly been issued, but it's not known what sort of actors (or extras, more likely) are being looked for. [On Location Vacations]

Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance
Here's a TV spot.
Flight of the Conchords member Bret McKenzie says his role in this film isn't the exact same elf he played in Lord of the Rings, which got the fan nickname Figwit for reasons too silly to go into. McKenzie explains:
"I've got a cameo as an elf. Or another cameo... My character is called Lindir. I hang out with Elrond... I've got a few lines in Elvish. You'll probably see, I've got slightly different ears. That's how I differentiate my elf characters. The big difference for this character is that he's in 3D. He's a character that's a lot more three dimensional."
Ayelet Waldman, the wife of novelist and movie co-writer Michael Chabon, gives the movie this ringing, if admittedly possibly biased, endorsement:
Michael got to see almost finished version of JOHN CARTER. He said it rocks. I'm DYING to see it. Go Mars!!!
Evil Dead Reboot
After initial rumors that the movie was looking to cast TV actors in the main roles (TV actors we really like, but still), the movie has reportedly landed an established movie actor in The Blind Side and Mirror, Mirror's Lily Collins. She reportedly is playing Mia, who in previous synopses has been described as a drug addict that is taken to the remote cabin by her friends to detox, at which point she is possessed by demons. The latest reports add to this by suggesting Mia isn't simply there as a first victim - she's reportedly the lead and the female version of Bruce Campbell's Ash. Whether this new information contradicts or complements the original reports, or is simply completely false, is currently unknown. [Bloody Disgusting]

The latest plot rumors are that the new James Bond movie is "about a downed intel satellite and the scrambling of various government agencies to retrieve it." That seems like a fairly literal interpretation of the movie's title, what with a satellite falling from the sky and everything. For what it's worth, star Daniel Craig had previously suggested the title has some sort of geographic significance, with a popular theory being that "Skyfall" is the name of a Scottish castle rumored to appear in the film. It's possible the title has a double meaning, or that Daniel Craig was engaging in a bit of misdirection, but the most reasonable thing is probably just to take this all with a grain of salt until we hear more.
Director Sam Mendes has reportedly picked his longtime collaborator Thomas Newman, who did the scores for American Beauty, Road to Perdition, Jarhead, and Revolutionary Road, to compose the score for the movie. Newman is taking over from David Arnold, who had done all the scores since Tomorrow Never Dies (and also did this awesome theme for some Doctor Who audios). Arnold reportedly had to bow out due to scheduling difficulties. [MI6 HQ]
Paranormal Activity 4
Paramount Pictures has set the latest sequel's release date for October 19, 2012. [ComingSoon.net]
Here's the official synopsis for the Piranha 3D sequel, which everyone involved insists will be released in theaters in the very near future:
A Horror sequel in which a species of violent prehistoric piranha continue to terrify a small town. The chaos unleashed in ‘Piranha' (2010) by a group of the omnivorous fish, set free by an earthquake that split the floor of a lake, may only have been the beginning. The tests of marine biologist Carl Goodman (Christopher Lloyd) indicate that these fish were only adolescents, suggesting their parents would be even fiercer adversaries. When the piranha make their way into the town's plumbing system, the terror spreads. Soon swimming pools and even the town's brand new waterpark are infested by the bloodthirsty critters. Can the town's residents, marshalled by survivor of the first movie Deputy Fallon (Ving Rhames), find a way to combat their sharp-teethed tormentors?
The show has reportedly found two of the convicts who will appear in upcoming episodes when all of Alcatraz's prisoners suddenly reappear after thirty years. Fringe and Caprica actor Michael Eklund has reportedly been cast in the third episode as Kit Nelson, "a terrifying kidnapper who always returns his victims to their homes... after he's killed them." Meanwhile, Eric Johnson, the title character of Syfy's truly bonkers and mostly terrible Flash Gordon reboot from a few years back, will reportedly appear in episode four as Cal Sweeney, "a smooth talking bank robber whose interests lie in safety deposit boxes and the secrets they contain."
