Amy Pond gets tested all over again, on Doctor Who. A supermodel will impersonate Jeff Bridges. There are tons of set photos for Man of Steel, The Avengers, Supernatural and the Eureka finale. Will Ghostbusters 3 finally happen? Advertisement Spoilers ahead... Top image: Set photo from The Avengers.Man of SteelComic Book Movie has an extensive set report from the production in Plano, Texas. If their source is to be believed, we can expect to see a battle smack in the middle of downtown Smallville; a backyard birthday party with the Kents; a church scene; and lots of other exciting stuff. This report does warrant some healthy skepticism, as the writer insists we'll see Superman with his red shorts, and recent photo evidence suggests otherwise. But the pics are extensive and do a great job of showing what the look of the film might be. More pics at the link. [Comic Book Movie]R.I.P.DMarisa Miller — a model for Sports Illustrated and Victoria's Secret — is joining the cast. She'll be playing Jeff Bridges' earthly form. Mike O'Malley (currently on Glee) is also signing on to play a ghost. [Slash Film]The WolverineDifficulty finding shooting locations in Japan has delayed production until Spring 2012. [Film School Rejects]Ghostbusters 3Supposedly, Ghostbusters 3 is finally happening, with or without Bill Murray. If it ever does, Dan Aykroyd shared a bit of what to expect on The Dennis Miller Show: Advertisement Advertisement "'My character, Ray, is now blind in one eye and can't drive the Cadillac,' he says, ‘He's got a bad knee and can't carry the packs ... Egon is too large to get into the harness. We need young blood and that's the promise. We're gonna hand it to a new generation.'"[Shock Till You Drop]Captain America 2While they don't want to lose the sense that the Cap is a "man out of time," screenwriters Chris Markus and Stephen McFeely would like to include more of his 1940s adventures in the sequel: Sponsored "The span of [Captain America: The First Avenger] is about two or three years, and there's a few times in the film where you jump four months ahead, you jump six months ahead," McFeely explained. "So we did that with the intention of saying, ‘Okay, there are certainly unseen adventures that Captain America went on in that period that if we want to, we can go back and explore later.'"They also want to include the Falcon, but he and Captain American probably won't be cleaning up the mean streets of the 1970s. [Splash Page]The Invisible ManThis classic is getting another adaptation, though the goal is something like Robert Downey Jr.'s take on Sherlock Holmes. Advertisement "It's a period film but it's period like Downey's 'Sherlock Holmes,'" said Goyer, whose writing credits include "The Dark Knight" and the upcoming "Man of Steel" project that will put Superman back on the big screen. "It's period but it's a reinvention of the character in the sort of way that Stephen Sommers exploded ‘The Mummy' into a much bigger kind of mythology. That's kind of what we've done with ‘The Invisible Man.'"[Hero Complex]Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows Speaking of Sherlock Holmes, we've got a few promo photos for the sequel, A Game of Shadows. [Coming Soon]Warm BodiesRob Corddry's in final talks to join this adaptation of a "zombie romance novel," where he'll play a zombie named R. The synopsis: Advertisement The story centers on an existentially tormented zombie who begins an unlikely friendship with the girlfriend of one of his victims and starts a chain reaction that will transform him and his fellow zombies.[Shock Till You Drop]BraveCourtesy of Pixar comes a new, more detailed synopsis: Advertisement Advertisement Merida is a skilled archer and impetuous daughter of King Fergus (voice of Billy Connolly) and Queen Elinor (voice of Emma Thompson). Determined to carve her own path in life, Merida defies an age-old custom sacred to the uproarious lords of the land: massive Lord MacGuffin (voice of Kevin McKidd), surly Lord Macintosh (voice of Craig Ferguson) and cantankerous Lord Dingwall (voice of Robbie Coltrane). Merida's actions inadvertently unleash chaos and fury in the kingdom, and when she turns to an eccentric old Witch (voice of Julie Walters) for help, she is granted an ill-fated wish. The ensuing peril forces Merida to discover the meaning of true bravery in order to undo a beastly curse before it's too late.[Slashfilm]The Avengers The deluge of set pics continues! Today we've got closer images of a great, golden vehicle. [Superhero Hype]Jinn Exxodus Pictures has released a character image for their upcoming supernatural thriller, Jinn. The photo is of the main character, Father Westhoff. Says writer-director Ajmal Zaheer Ahmad: Advertisement Almost half the world already believes in the existence of the jinn, however the other half has never heard of them before. From China to Africa, hundreds of millions believe the jinn are the solitary answer for everything that goes bump in the night."[Shock Till You Drop]SupernaturalWe may have a hint as to which side Crowley might come down on this season. Says Mark Sheppard: Advertisement Advertisement 'Isn't that the best part of Crowley, when he's dealing with the boys? Isn't it so much fun when he does?' Sheppard effused, fanboy-like, when I asked which side of this supernatural standoff the King of Hell might land on.[TV Line]And here are quite a few set pictures. [SpoilerTV]Doctor Who Karen Gillam explains a bit about the Tessalecta, the big bad of "Let's Kill Hitler." It's a machine that travels through history, righting wrongs — but maybe they shouldn't be righted. She also talks about "The Girl Who Waited," and says it'll be a tough experience for Amy and will test her relationship with Rory. [ComBom]And here's the synopsis for episode 10, "The Girl Who Waited": Advertisement Advertisement Amy is trapped in a quarantine facility for victims of an alien plague – a plague that will kill the Doctor in a day – as the time-travelling drama continues. The Doctor can use the TARDIS to smash through time and break in, but then Rory is on his own. He must find Amy and bring her back to the TARDIS before the alien doctors can administer their medicine. Rory is about to encounter a very different side to his wife. Can he rescue Amy before she is killed by kindness?[ComBom]And yet, with all that's been revealed, Karen Gillan is still keeping a great, big secret from the rest of the cast: Advertisement I think it's really clever what Steven did. He kind of told everyone a little bit of information that we weren't allowed to tell anybody else. And it just adds, because that's where the characters are, in terms of keeping things from each other, and it makes for a really interesting dynamic in the TARDIS. It's always interesting when somebody's talking and there's double meanings and things, but the other character doesn't know. And also, I've still got my secret.[The AV Club] Steven Moffat says yes, we will see more aliens from the original series, but he declines to elaborate. [ComBom] Arthur Davill describes Rory as "a bumbling action hero." [ComBom]TorchwoodA new trailer and a sneak peek for episode 8, "The End of the Road." [ComBom; SpoilerTV]The Secret CircleChris Zylka (soon appearing in Shark Night 3D) has joined the cast as Billy, "a chiseled and charming neighbor of Cassie, who also has a romantic history with Faye and is quite the foil to Adam." [TV Guide] Advertisement Here's the official synopsis of the pilot:Cassie Blake's (Britt Robertson, "Life Unexpected") world is turned upside down after her mother dies in a mysterious accident, forcing Cassie to move in with her loving grandmother Jane (Ashley Crow, "Heroes") in the small town of Chance Harbor, Washington. Upon meeting one of her mother's childhood friends, Dawn Chamberlain (Natasha Henstridge, "Species"), the school principal and Faye's mother, Cassie begins to wonder why her mother never spoke of her hometown. When strange and dangerous things begin to happen, Cassie's new friends are forced to tell her their secret - they are all witches and her arrival will complete the Circle. [Den of Geek]FringeJasika Nicole explains what we can and can't expect to see from her character, Astrid, this season: Advertisement Advertisement I have talked with the writers about what I could expect from Astrid in this fourth season, and while they admitted that they will not be exploring her backstory, they did say that there would be an Astrid-centric episode, and more importantly, that her relationships with the other characters were going to be different in this new Peter-less reality.[Fringe Spoilers]Arye Gross will guest-star in an upcoming episode as Malcolm Truss, "a middle-aged scientist who enters the Fringe fold in Episode 5." [TV Guide]Once Upon a TimeEven though they're Lost alums, writers Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz don't want this to be "a mythology show": "It's about characters and characters first," says Kitnis. He also described their thinking behind their portrayal of female characters: Advertisement "For us it was important that she's not a damsel in distress, that none of the women are, that they're strong women, that they're inspirational, which is why in the pilot you see Snow White with a sword when the Evil Queen comes in instead of hiding behind her husband."[Spinoff] Advertisement Alan Dale (AKA Charles Widmore) will play Prince Charming's father. Anyone who's seen either Lost or the OC knows there is probably, therefore, villainy afoot.
