It's the dog days of summer for the io9 gang, so yours truly is about to go sit under a stately oak and kick back with a stack of Bob Burden's Flaming Carrot and a Poland Spring bottle full of Prairie Fire. But before I decree that "relative humidity" is my spirit animal, here's your weekly comic preview.
DC's doing some more reprint action with DC Comics Presents: Teen Titans (which features Mike Allred's work from Solo) and their DC Retroactive 1990s line-up: Alan Grant on Batman, Brian Augustyn on Flash, and William Messner-Loebs penning Wonder Woman. Dark Horse is also releasing the first issue of Star Wars: Knight Errant - Deluge
As for the "stalwarts and up-and-comers" heap, we have DMZ, The Boys: Butcher, Baker, Candlestickmaker, Fables, The Walking Dead, Gladstone's School for World Conquerors, Hellblazer, Tony Lee's Doctor Who, Mark Waid's Daredevil, Tony Stark getting Asgardian in Invincible Iron Man, X-Men Schism, and Surturiffic Kieron Gillen's Journey Into Mystery (with that rapscallion Loki, above). Phew!
A bunch of gee-whiz reprints this week. The main draw is the Invincible Compendium which collects the first 47 issues of Robert Kirkman's teen superhero series between two covers for give or take $55.
Next up is a deluxe hardcover of Grant Morrison and Frank Quitely's simple and beautiful cybernetic pet story We3. There's also the hardcover Tales Of The Batman: Gene Colan, which collects the recently passed illustrator's work on the Dark Knight.
