For months, we've been speculating on who Marion Cotillard and Joseph Gordon-Levitt might play in Chris Nolan's final Batman movie. Well, guess no more — both actors' roles have been revealed. And they're almost too bland, if you ask us...
The Hollywood Reporter has announced the official casting of Cotillard and JGL in The Dark Knight Rises which is also being being described as the "conclusion of the Dark Knight legend":
The studio said Cotillard will play as Miranda Tate, a Wayne Enterprises board member eager to help a still-grieving Bruce Wayne resume his father's philanthropic endeavors for Gotham.
Gordon-Levitt will play John Blake, a Gotham City beat cop assigned to special duty under the command of Commissioner Gordon.
Wow, those are two innocuous characters. But it's not like we suspected Nolan to reveal his characters' full identities to the press at such an early date. In fact one could almost argue that these characters are so bland, that there has to be much more beneath the surface. Is this Miranda Tate character just a cover for her rumored character, Talia Al Ghul? Now that we know that her father will be appearing in a possible flashback, surely this is setting up a bigger reveal? Who knows, with Nolan? Either way we're extremely happy that both actors are now officially attached to this project.
