NBC's Wonder Woman just got a lot more Lynda Carter. We've already seen two versions of Adrianne Palicki's super suit (one with blue boots and later with jegglings). Turns out there's one more version, with 70s-style hot pants!
In an interview with TV Line the president of NBC Robert Greenblatt defended David E. Kelley's new superhero series and even teased a future "look" for Diana Prince.
"There was an initial outcry about the long pants - you know, skintight pants as opposed to those little shorts [worn by Lynda Carter in the original TV series]. But the shorts were always planned. They are actually used in the final confrontation when she beats Veronica Cale (played by Elizabeth Hurley)."
No word on if the poor girl's going to get a sports bra. Oy. We know a lot of commenters demanded the return of the 70s get-up. We maintain our stance that the Jim Lee Wonder Woman costume redesign, with jacket and breast support, would be the smarter way to go. This way, we'd actually have time to connect with this character as opposed to screaming and holding our chests every time actress Adrianne Palicki leaps after crime.
But the fate of Wonder Woman still hangs in the balance. Remember, NBC hasn't actually added it to its fall line-up yet and Greenblatt made sure we knew that as well.
"I've been doing this long enough to know that nothing is a safe bet. Even with the best of intentions and the best people, you just don't know until you see it finished – and we're a few weeks away from that. But it's been getting a lot of attention. A lot."
Will Wonder Woman see the light of day? Who knows.
